Social CPD

Increasingly as educators, we can gain access to the thoughts and provocations of specialists through the power of social media

One platform that provides users with an opportunity to provoke genuine reflection through engaging images or videos is Instagram. As an education team at the Foundation Stage Forum and Tapestry, we have learned so much over the last few years, engaging with and absorbing the materials that are freely produced by key figures in the world of education. Whatever your area of focus, the likelihood is that there will be a wealth of opportunities to be inspired or influenced. The platform has been particularly enlightening on our journey of anti-racist learning, as well as supporting our understanding of ableism and the impact it has on our children with learning differences or disabilities.

It could be that a professional or organisation is giving specific advice around a particular issue, or it might be that an active practitioner is sharing good practice from their setting. Either way, this newfound, easily consumable form of CPD should not be underestimated. As a disclaimer, it should be said that it may not always be 'good’ practice that you encounter, or sound advice, so as with any CPD, we should approach it with a critical eye and consider our own due diligence before sharing.

To highlight some of the amazing work that is being shared on Instagram, we will be releasing a regular Social CPD bulletin which will showcase 4 specific posts that our team have found useful. Each volume contains clickable links which will take you directly to the original post from the creator. We will compile the back catalogue of the Social CPD bulletin on this page so that you can re-visit previous editions.
